What our guests say

5th to 12th March 2016

This was our first time visiting Scotland but it definitely won’t be the last!  We arrived at Glenfruin lodge after a 6.5 hour drive and instantly felt at home.

The Lodge is spacious yet cosy with everything we needed for our week-long stay.  The bed is wonderfully comfortable, kitchen well stocked and the HUGE whirlpool bath and log burner were God sends after a long day out in the Scottish Highlands!

During our stay we visited:

– Bird of Prey Centre at Balloch – great value and very interesting.

– Sweeney’s Cruises for a 1 hour cruise of Loch Lomond.

– RSPB nature reserve at Gartocharn (lovely walk).

– Lodge Visitors Centre at Aberfoyle for wonderful Red Squirrel viewing.

– Ben Lomond – still can’t believe we climbed an actual mountain! Amazing experience & breathtaking views.

We also treated ourselves to fish & chips from the ‘Wee Kelpie’ in Helensburgh (delicious) and splashed out on the 8 course tasting menu at the Michelin star ‘Martin Wishart’ restaurant at Cameron House (amazing for us foodies!).

All in all our first visit to this beautiful country has been unforgettable – we are already planning to come back next year!  Glenfruin Lodge will definitely be our 1st choice of accommodation.

Has to be one of the cosiest cottages we have stayed in.  We have had a fantastic time visiting what can only be described as a beautiful part of the world.  We sadly had to cut our holiday short, but I think we will be back again.

Lovely stay in this beautiful cottage (Glenfruin Lodge).  Wonderful to come back to a fire and whirlpool bath after a wet, cold day.  Stunning area and a wonderful place to stay.

Dear Craig & Alison,

Thank you for a very enjoyable stay – we have a great time at the Celtic Connections and also enjoyed walking part of the West Highland Way.  Visiting Dunoon and Rothesay as well of course the very special Birthday celebration on Burns night.

Cottage is brilliant – well placed, warm and efficient.

Thanks Again.

First New Year at Crosskeys, had a great wee break.

The Cottage is stunning and homely, great walks for my black Lab ‘pepsi’ and time to recharge the batteries after a hectic year.

Thank you so much Alison & Craig for the gifts under the tree they were lovely and much appreciated.

Would definitely come back for another stay.

Thank you so very much.

Our second Christmas here at Crosskeys.

Thanks Alison & Craig for the tasteful christmas decorations and the lovely gifts under the Christmas tree.  Delightful touches!

Have again enjoyed our stay despite the constant rain, although this morning dawned bright and sunny and we walked the dogs up through the Glen.  Pair of Golden Eagles spotted!

Looking for ways to visit in mid summer, will check our diary!

Thanks again, Jim, Frances and Kelly, Barney & Echo!

3rd - 7th November 2015

We have enjoyed our time in Crosskeys.  The Cottage is full of character and history and the poor weather has meant we have spent more time than we would have liked indoors.  Having said that we manage to visit Balloch Castle Country Park, take a walk around the village of Luss and visit Helensburgh for shopping.  It has been a pleasure to see a different part of Scotland and we are now off to Skye for a week hoping the weather is kinder.
