What our guests say
2nd - 9th August 2014
We have enjoyed a relaxing week here. The Cottage (Glenfruin Lodge) is very cosy with everything we needed.
The weather was better than we expected during the week, lots of sunshine.
Sunday we travelled to Glasgow to watch the cycling road race and despite the rain we had a wonderful time soaking up the atmosphere of the Commonwealth Games.
It’s worthwhile taking the train from Helensburgh Central station to Glasgow. The trains run regularly and the journey takes just 50 mins.
Inverary and the castle are well worth a visit. We had a lovely day there exploring the castle and gardens.
If you plan to visit Hill House in Helensburgh it is open from 1.30pm until 5.30pm (we arrived there in the morning expecting it to be open!).

Lovely holiday and a nice cottage. Would love to come back again.
Scenery is great. So much to do, and weather really warm.
One of our best holidays….

Very enjoyable week – the cottage (Glenfruin Lodge) was just right for our requirements and in such a peaceful and attractive area. Very comfortable and cared for.
Plenty to see and do – Hill House should not be missed and Glenarn Gardens is unexpectedly impressive. A short drive south and Geilston Garden and Balloch Country Park provide very enjoyable walks. A drive around Loch Lomond presents several good walks and tea stops as does a tour around the peninsula (great wool shop!). A challenge of a climb at Dumbarton Castle gives great rewards.
We found train travel to Glasgow easy and efficient and really enjoyed visits to museums eg. Kelvingrove, Transport and Life and the Tall Ship, also the Lighthouse.
Local bicycle paths are great for safe pedalling and walking – we know the other end of the John Muir trail quite well, plus his reputation and life in USA.
Thank you once again.
Best wishes, Michael & Joan Whatling

Had a lovely week, lovely walks, scenery is great. Our dog (Flo) loved the swimming in the river. Waitrose is a must for stocking up, Helensburgh is lovely to walk around and browse.
Perfect location to explore the area.

Finding Glenfruin Lodge was easy and on entering it we were delighted with the high standard that met us!
The bath is to die for and every evening soaking in a bubbling spa bath was bliss.
We have been lucky with the weather and had some great days out. Our visit to Loch Ness was well worth the long journey and the views through Glencoe and Ben Nevis spectacular! Our cruise on the loch was lovely, but unfortunately no sightings of Nessie!
Stirling Castle is well worth a visit and I personally think it’s better than Edinburgh Castle!
A cruise on Loch Lomond is lovely & take a walk through Balloch Castle Country park – the views are amazing.
As you can tell we loved it here and would definitely return.

Have had a most enjoyable holiday here at Glen Fruin. Weather has been absolutely perfect for touring around viewing the beautiful scenery around Loch Lomond and the surrounding countryside then returning in the evening to this comfortable cottage.
Thank you both for everything.

Lovely Lodge. Relaxed immediately. Felt right at home. Enjoyed driving through Glen Fruin – seemed caught in a time warp of bygone age.
Thank you for creating such a cosy, welcoming environment.
Hope to come again.

We have had a splendid week, covered lots of miles of wonderful scenery as well as catching up on some relaxation.
Glenfruin Lodge is delightful. Well appointed & perfectly equipped – we couldn’t have asked for more.
We even saw the eagles!
Thank you.

Everything we needed here, so many thanks. Great location for getting around – we loved the Loch Katrine area.
Had a very good meal in the Lomond Arms in Luss. If you have a dog with you, the place to go is the Balloch Castle Country park – lovely walks. A new Waitrose store and cheap petrol station in Helensburgh on the far east edge of town next to the new Academy.

Thank you, we have had a great week. We particularly enjoyed climbing ‘The Cobbler’ and cycling the many beautiful forest trails.
