What our guests say

17th - 24th May 2014

Thank you for an enjoyable stay at Glenfruin Lodge.  The fine weather for most of the week was a bonus!

We visited so many places, memorable ones were:-

Queen Elizabeth Forest Park

The 3 Lochs Forest Trail

Inchcailoch Island (ferry from Luss)

Inveraray Castle, from where we climbed Dun ar Cuiache

Balloch Country Park

Duncryne Hill (“the dumpling”), fantastic views over Loch Lomond

Dumbarton Castle

The Falls of Falloch

We recommend Balloch House Hotel for a  sandwich lunch and Waitrose in Helensburgh for shopping.

The Lodge was a relaxing place to return each day to, and the superking size bed so comfortable…

We have had a wonderful week staying in this delightful cottage.  There are so many places to visit around the area.

We will certainly be returning to complete unfinished business!

Thank you to you both.

10th - 17th May

Thank you for an enjoyable and comfortable stay in your spacious lodge.  We have had a relaxing week out and about meeting up with relatives living nearby in Helensburgh.

We both enjoy visiting gardens and particularly liked the immaculate one at Inverary Castle and garden.

Weather generally dry, with the odd heavy downpour but hasn’t stopped us enjoying our week.

We have been very comfortable in this spacious accommodation (Glenfruin Lodge).  In a peaceful setting yet close to main roads, railway stations, a lovely town with useful shops and the stunning countryside.

The weather has been generally kind and we have had a very busy and delightful week.

We hope to be back again,

Celia & George, Hampshire.

12th - 19th April 2014

Thank you Alison & Craig for a wonderful holiday here at Crosskeys.  The Cottage boasted everything we needed and more and was in a perfect location.

The weather has been surprisingly warm and sunny nearly non-stop this week!

We visited Balloch Castle Country Park, the lovely ‘Village Rest’ in Luss (nice scenes!) and climbed Conic Hill (and realised we were very unfit!).  We discovered a nice 2 hour walk starting from the back of the Hill House in Helensburgh that goes through woods & farmland that I’d recommend (google it!).

Thanks again for a great Scottish holiday.

31st March - 4th April 2014

Despite ‘challenging’ weather, we’ve had a wonderful few days in this peaceful, well-appointed and well-located cottage (Glenfruin Lodge).

Spent a tranquil evening on the deserted shore of Milavvochy Bay/Balmaha.  Hill House is superb.  Enjoyed the scenery of the Trossachs and a stroll around Callander.

The ‘Tullie’ in Balloch offers good value, unpretentious food.  The Boathouse at Cameron House is recommended.

A family wedding at Ross Priory brought us here and, hopefully, we’ll be back.

22nd - 29th March 2014

We’ve had a lovely week in “Crosskeys Cottage” – very warm, cosy & characterful place to stay.  A warm welcome too when we arrived.

A good base from which to enjoy the beautiful Loch Lomond & Trossachs area.

Some of the places we have visited and walked our 2 dogs that we would recommend:-

– Comic Hill & Balmaha – steep walk, but fantastic view from the top & Oak Tree Inn opposite!!

– Pucks Glen near Dunoon.

– Aberfoyle & Loch Ard Walk

– Fort William (2 hour drive) through Glen Coe was spectacular

– Balloch Castle Country Park

– Luss

– The Cobbler – only looked as it’s a bit of a more serious climb!

We visited far more places including Helensburgh (for shopping & take-aways!!) to mention.

Thanks very much.

1st - 8th February 2014

We arrived to a warm welcome and a nicely presented cottage (Lodge).  The Cottage came with everything we wanted and the whirlpool bath was a nice additional after a long cold walk!

The Sea Life Centre was good in Balloch.  A walk up to the Cobbler from Arrochar was excellent but the snow became quite deep at the very top, views were incredible.  Almost lost the Hire Car though as Loch Long flooded into the car park!

Tried to walk to Ben Vorlich next day but the path was hard to find from the dam at Loch Sloy.  However, the dam and the valley is impressive .

Loch Fyne is a good place to eat too, only place that seemed to serve a selection of seafood.

The sleeper train is a great way to travel too!

21st - 28th December 2013

What a find this turned out to be – couldn’t believe our luck.

Well appointed, parking space for at least 2 cars & the cottage itself tastefully decorated with a super shower & spacious double bedroom.  I am also told that the sofa bed was very comfy too.  The piece de resistance though, the wood burner in the sitting room.  It was so cosy I’m surprised we left the cottage, but we checked out the Lomond Arms Hotel in Luss and the Duck Bay Marina near Balloch.

We also had a walk around the grounds of Cameron House Hotel and watched the sea plane head off to the Kyles of Bute.  We also watched the birds of prey demonstration that was presented at Cameron House too.

As we didn’t have to travel far, we had no issues with the weather or commuting on work days (for some!) and would recommend this pretty cottage with it’s great amenities and locale to everyone we meet.

Thanks a million – loved it!
